Biography
Ashley Wey is a multi award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter and pianist. She has worked with Juno Award-winners Brandi Distrehaft, Mae Moore, and The Parachute Club. She has toured across Canada coast to coast many times while working for Sony BMG, backing up Canadian Idol winners, as well as visited 56 countries with her Trio while working on cruise ships around the world. Ashley opened all the Solstice Class Ships on Celebrity Cruise lines with four-time Grammy Award winner Manny Kellough, Billy Preston and Barry Whites drummer. With three critically acclaimed, self-produced albums to her credit, Wey released her first album of entirely original music, Hummingbird – a genre-bending project melding alternative folk, pop, and jazz on July 7, 2021. With her 5th album in the works, you will surely hear a lot more music from this wonderful, talented woman.

Pianist, composer and singer Ashley Wey is a multi-faceted artist, who is highly regarded for both her playing and her writing as well as how she seamlessly crosses over from indie pop to D&B, hip-hop and jazz.
Ashley Wey met her bassist Louis Rudner while working on the high seas. They traveled the world together performing on cruise ships for three years before getting married and making Victoria their home together.
Louis Rudner is a diverse musician who has studied personally with many bass greats including Rodney Whitaker, Victor Wooten, Oteil Burbridge, and Paul Keller. Louis is happy to relocate to Victoria and has been welcomed by many high caliber musicians on the west coast.
Louis Rudner and drummer Nicholas Bracewell met a decade ago in Michigan while completing their masters degrees at Michigan State University. Nicolas Bracewell has performed with award winning greats such as Etienne Charles, Rodney Whitaker, Randy Napoleon, Gabriel Mark Hasslebach, Maureen Choi, and many more.
Once Nicholas Bracewell moved to the west coast the Ashley Wey trio began to breathe and embody the energy it was intended to have. Bracewell can authentically blend the breadth and depth of the sounds and energy they have been envisioning.

With three critically acclaimed self-produced albums to her credit, the captivating Wey returned to Victoria with her latest ‘Live’: an album filled with inventive ideas and breathtaking artistry.
Ashley is a charismatic singer/pianist who lights up the stage with her bright smile and magnificent sounds that open minds and reach hearts. Performing with Louis Rudner(Michigan) this incredible duo is
premiering new works and and shedding new light on some things old and timeless.
Louis Rudner has been laying diverse musical foundations for over a decade. A native of southeast Michigan, He took up the violin at the age of 8 and began studying classical music as well as American traditional music. Inspired by the energy of the music from the 1960’s beginning with Cream, Jimi Hendrix, and Santana, Louis took up the electric bass to experiment with and explore a different sound palette. He went on to study the Double Bass under Rodney Whitaker, earning a Bachelors and Masters degree in Jazz Performance at Michigan State University. Louis now resides in Victoria, B.C and is works closely with the Ashley Wey Duo and Trio.
This passionate and dynamic duo performs a wide variety of music through the decades and is dedicated to the tradition of Jazz.
